It raises the oil level high enough that even just the 6 inches of vacuum that the intake will pull through the crankcase at WOT will start a siphoning effect. The breathers in that link would work, but are designed to have a hose run up to the air filter (you want the air filtered into the breather some how to prevent it from sucking bugs/debris into the valve cover).
